So can you stream music on the iPhone via Bluetooth
Yup. Not just music either - it'll stream the audio for videos. I was only partially joking... my daughter likes to watch Mister Maker, Balamory etc on my iPhone during our commute and I found the audio comes out well if you select the Bluetooth option. I wish I'd never found the option now, of course, but that's down to the programme choice - it's a clever little feature.
does it have to be iphone? I have a N86 surely there must be a way, not that i will ever use it as i have an ipod cradle which is great.
Dunno. Haven't got another device capable of streaming audio via Bluetooth, so haven't tested it.
But while were on the subject, where do you get updates from for the sat nav, i know its on the SD card and i have found the option on the setup menu but just curious about cost etc.
Also can you get Speed camera's on these? I have a seperate snooper wired up so im not too fussed but it feels like ive spent loads of money for summat thats not as good as my old tomtom.
I'm interested to know about the updates too. As for speed cameras, I'm pretty sure I read that NickP got them to work on his RNS510 (or was it RNS310), but it was a long-winded process IIRC. Overall, the sat-nav isn't as good as a modern TomTom, I agree. If it had full postcode search, better mapping, POI editor on PC and easy import of POI data to the unit, it would be close. As it is, it's useful but not great.
However, I find the non-sat-nav bits of the MS2.1 are very good: SD card and USB input works well once you find a card that works, DAB radio is great and the Bluetooth stuff seems to work well too.
