Hope its ok to put this in here, some of you may know the car from other forums, its a LHD 83 Mk1 Golf Gti.

I bought it about a year ago, its left hand drive, previously 1.8 8V, I then fitted an ABF out of an Ibiza with Schrick cams and Jenvey throttle bodies on DTA management,
I am currently fitting a BWJ K04 TFSI out of a 07 Leon Cupra, its a tight squeeze!

It's a little rough around the edges but it will be getting a respray once all the mechanical work is complete.

I'm using an 02J TDI gearbox with a Schimmel Performance Stage 1 VR6 clutch and flywheel with a Lupo cable shifter and 5Speed TT short shifter.

Handling wise I fitted a set of KW V3's.

For the front brakes I fitted Scirocco 16V front caliper carriers with new 16V calipers and Tarox grooved 256mm discs, on the rear I fitted a full Mk3 Ibiza Cupra setup with genuine pads and discs, Goodridge hoses all round with stainless ends.

I binned the crap Mk1 wheels and fitted Genuine BBS RS 047's, 7x 15's with 195/45 Toyo Proxes.

I picked up a spare off ebay.de and got it powdercoated.

Photo of the ABF on throttle bodies.

It was a great engine but I was a bit disappointed with the power, I think there was a lot more to come from it but I wanted something with mental power so I sold it and started the TFSI conversion.

I had fitted a full Powersprint stainless 63mm exhaust system with the ABF so I will be keeping that and I am having a custom 3 inch downpipe made to go with it.

The standard Mk1 K-Jet pump is supposed to be good for around 10 Bar and I will be using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with stainless braided Teflon fuel lines and AN-6 fittings all round.

@ Pigeon Fancier, cheers it looks better in the photo's, really needs a paint job, yeah I'm from Cork.

Yeah it sounded mental, it was a bit much actually, it could be heard miles away when driving it on.

The exhaust is a full race system as well which doesn't help matters, it should be quieter with the TFSI, the turbo should act as a silencer.

Not really into the show thing myself yet, I will probably go to a few once the car is painted.

Theres the VAGE show in Fermoy here in Cork every year, then theres a classic car show in Limerick which is pretty popular and Dubshed up North.

I'm away at sea with work a lot as well so I tend to miss most of these unfortunately.

Have you been to Cork before?

What sort of bhp did you have and hoping for with the new engine?
Yes been to Cork a few times, have family in Clare and brother in law from Kenturk.

Thanks Chambers!

The ABF was 181bhp, the TFSI is 240 standard and I'll keep it that way until I get a diff, I would like to get a Loba HPFP and aim for 330-350 bhp eventually.

My Father's Mother is from Clare, Spanish Point.

More like throw my guts up in the Atlantic, its fairly rough at times alright!

Thanks lads, new engine is in now, just plumbing and wiring to sort out, more photos shortly.

If anyone has any links to any TFSI wiring diagrams I would really appreciate it if you could throw them up here!

I have a few pics alright, its a tight fit, especially with the turbo, the outlet will need a custom pipe made and I have to relocate the N75 valve and grind of the mounting lugs for it.

I'm at work at the moment so I won't even attempt to get any photo's up on theis crap PC, I'll get some up in the morning.

Clutch and flywheel fitted.

Front view of engine where front bracket is to be fitted.

Oil cooler removed.

Front bracket to be modified.

Modified.

Fitted.

Oil cooler back on.

Engine in with Neuspeed intake fitted loosely, its been cut and shortened since.

Alternator tensioner is very close to the chassis leg, I have been told I can bin it and fit a stretch belt.

Clod side of turbo is very tight as well, N75 valve removed, to be relocated shortly.

Gearbox side view.

View down the front.

Take no notice of the green marker paint, the lads in the breakers yard must have been in an artistic mood, I got it all off since, it took 2.5 cans of carb cleaner to shift it!

I don't know about tidy but it fit's in there anyway!

Picked up a new fuel pump cam follower, revision G dump valve, air mass meter and timing belt kit from Dave at Sere Motors, great price and service I must say!

Fuel rail with AN-6 fitting to be welded on and pressure gauge for setting up.

K04 flange and 42 Draft Designs PCV plate, got a PCV bung and map sensor flange from them too, they have a sale on at the moment so that took the sting out of the customs charge.

New black nylon braided Teflon lined AN-10 hose and fittings came from Torques UK for the PCV plate/catch can setup.

Looks very well. Very tight in there indeed. Looks like it was made to fit haha.
Have you set yourself a date youd like to have it running and driveable? Or just whenever its ready?

Thanks, haven't really set a date because I'm away with work a lot and just put a bid in on a house so it might have to go on the backburner for a while.
