Mk3 1/2 leather seats

If I wanted to replace the Kat Slater red and black tiger stripes 1/2 leather I have at the moment and then swap it for the mk3 black leather with plain red seats which would look far better than the current ones.


How easy is it to swap em out ? Im getting that its pretty straight forward.

yup .. i did a swap out from a standard mk2 interior to a half leather recently, all i had to do was swap the base units due to there being a slight difference in the way the 'rail' sat.. easy enough tho... shame i didnt wait.. i wouldnt mind a 'red' interior..but i got the blue/grey on in now........ah well.

but between the mk2 and mk3 you have to change the front runners ?

just the seat BASES were different.. ( the runners sit at a different angle(??).. ) all i did. was 'swap ' the upholstery from the bases over

VAG seat bases have a wide variety of different width runners, but the padding and the backs are the same. I have modified Seat and Audi ones to fit Mk1 and 2 Golfs and the principle is the same for what you wanna do.

right but I already have 1/2 leather seats - just asumed they were the same with different covering

If you're putting mk3 seats in, don't forget that they have airbags hidden in them. Also worth bearing this in mind if you intended to pull the covers from the mk3 seats and just use them.
