Thought I'd pop up a post about my SEAT.
I bring you a 2007 Alhambra TDI. Picked it up, got about 15 miles before it started overheating. D'oh. Turns out it was a blooming head gasket no less. Nightmare.
Anyway, got it home, got that fixed along with a new timing belt, full service and took a picture...
Lets see how I like it after an immediate £800 bill.
Turns out, I like it a lot. It gives me the space I was wanting, but more importantly, the kids love it. They are that bit higher, and with bigger windows than the greenhouse, they get to see loads.
Anyway, it was missing a few bits and pieces. First up was the speed. So a quick remap helped out with that. Hopefully get a couple mpg's too, since it's the sensible wagon. But that wasn't really why.
Next up, needed some bluetooth, since I do 20k+ per year. Also, a USB drive would be nice. So found a cheap double din Alpine on Amazon, and fitted that.
That'll work. Then, since I hate getting covered in water whenever the window is open, some wind deflectors.
And a set of wheels.
Could do with a drop, but since it's a kid moving machine, it's far from the top of the list. If I need to change out the suspension due to wear, then it'll get dropped then. Otherwise, it'll stay as is.
The only other things to do are cruise control and get my plate on it. That should be it done.
As a little bit of evidence of how much I like it, since buying it, my 2013 BMW 530d hasn't had much use. Whenever I go anywhere, it's in the SEAT usually. The only exception is when I had to go into the office last week, and the wife needed the SEAT for kid duties. But that's just about all the miles it's done since buying the SEAT. And as a result, the BMW has been in the drive while the Alhambra has been in the garage. Didn't see that coming.
