If your boot SOUNDS like its opening (ie u can hear the solenoid unlocking/locking with the c/l) then its the lock mechanism itself - marks solution above should work but i hate using it. Dealer couldnt get into my car - was there for 1/2hr trying to open the boot.
Get it to ur dealer with it jammed and get it swapped under warranty. They wont replace it unless they see the problem. If you take it in and its working, they will just assume you dont know how to use the bootlock, like they did me.
if not, mine sorted itself out overnight, was fine the following morning. Glad they have seen the issue now - its getting sorted underwarranty.
BTW, this will be my 2nd bootlock in a year, and the 8th trip to the dealer with this problem.
