Hi ,
just got (few days ago) my new Cupra.
it has around 100 miles on the clock now.

had it painted MATTE black in the distributer.
painting had some problems so it is being re-painted.

but here are some photos , tell me what you think.

vinyl really doesn't look the same as paint , i have tested the 3m matte black which is the best you can get.

if you do something , really better to do it all the way.

pics really don't do it justice.
once its re-painted i will try to get some better pics.

and also after it's lowered and got a normal set of rims.

i am getting in JAN a set of LM replica's 18X8 front 18X9 real and the centers are going to be painted same matt black as the car.

just a little about the process , since you are asking about it

i have done it the professional way.

first you paint using any normal car color
in my case it was mercedes 972 (maybach black) but in the re-paint i might move to Lamborghini 1019 (Nero Nemesis)

afterwards you apply SuperMatte laque and Hardner.

the result is different from normal paint since hand marks etc are easily seen on matte lacque but you really can't scratch it and it is resistant as normal paint.

the downsides is that you cannot polish or wax the car. polish will make it shiny.

the process is much harder then using normal lacque since on matte it is very easy to see the air pistol strokes so you really have to make long strokes to make it work , which they haven't done now.

as for the rims , i really dislike the cupra rims. i am thinking on BBS LM rims and painting the center in the same matte black as the car. i really like deep dish rims.

did you apply clear coat ?
very hard to get good metrials for that.

you can either try to use DE BEER matt clear coat with IMPA hardner (important)

or you can use STANDOX colors with standox 2k color.

also , read up on the painting process , really not simple like using normal clear coats.

you will be very displeased using flatteners.
i have tried that as well , and you still get a shiny clear coat over the matt paint.

i haven't tried dupont flatteners but i really doubt it will do the job.

you need an "Original" matte clear coat.

De Beer and standox have them.
