N249 bypass problem... rolling road states im only getting 4.6 psi boost..

Hi guys, whent to the rolling road today to see if my car is putting out ATLEAST standard power with stage 2 mods, the problem ive been having is... sometimes it boosts up to 7 psi, then falls down to 5/6 and holds on my boost gauge.

Wallace per4mance say they think my n249 is done wrong, and is reason im loosing power

The power is 147.8 BHP for 5 psi with all the stage 2 mods (EXCEPT a ko3s, still running standard turbo) He said its not too bad power for it, but says it will cost £70 to fix my bypass for an hours labour charge!

I did not have ANY wiring on my engine atall when i got it, so i do not know how the standard N249 is wired up, so i CANT compare it to a bypass guide..

I really dont want to pay £70 if its easy enough.


what its like at the moment is..

• 1 vac line off inlet to the fuel regulator
• 1 vac line off the inlet, 'Y' Peices off, 1 peice goes to the dump valve from there, the other goes to the N249 Valve
• From the other side of the N249 Valve, i then have it going to the actuater, the nearest port to the drivers side.
• From the OTHER port on the actuater (passanger side) it goes to the turbo intake pipe

ONE PORT ON THE N249 IS NOT USED, THE ONES I AM USING IS AS IF ITS GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE, NOT TAKING A THE ROUTE THAT GOES RIGHT/LEFT.


Any help will be appreciated! im desperate not to spend £70 for something i know i might fix in 20 mins?

Should of had a look at mine or richards when we were there, see if you could of seen anything obvious.

From your description it sounds like you still have the n249 on!?

Yeah, should have, its weird though, when i was off in a hurry i didnt warm the turbo up fully, the automatic choke was still on, and it was boosting over 14 PSI, you might have herd me leaving it was loud and quick for once lol

Its just a pain as i want it running right before i go down the hybrid route like yourself

Sorry bud, what resistors did you use? Ohm wise?

Hmm yeah that is weird, id try get a look at richard's and see if you can copy what he has, although he doesn't have the greatest boost just now either, hopefully only a weak actuator for him.

Hopefully lol, his isnt that far quicker for the ammount he has, his drops off badly though, drops from 16 psi to 10 after 4k

330ohm mate bout 20p a pop can wedge them in or solder!

FIXED!

It wasnt going to the EGR, thats why it was that bad.. now holding roughly 8/9 psi, im happy

Top tip tape them plugs to your coil pack wires or theyll fall down and melt onto your manilfold!

Got another dyno day with track and street grampian in april, hoping to have all parts for a hybrid build by then now I have boost sorted!

And I've broke 1 of the plugs as its melted allready lol :c ill tie wrap em up somewhere
