New Cupra

Hi

I am looking for some feedback regarding the new Leon Cupra from anyone who has driven one, it is on the shortlist of new cars for me however Seat Ireland have very nicely informed me that the car is special order only so there will be no chance to test drive one as there are none in the country.

The list at the moment is a Cupra, a type r civic or an OPC astra, i have had a 20VT Leon before and i have to say i loved the car and that has influenced my adding the New Leon to my shortlist.

The reviews i have read so far, Top Gear and Evo mainly havent reflected to well but i prefer to get opinions from owners to be honest.

Car will be used daily with the odd track day

So who has one and would you recommend one?

Cheers
ian

Hi Ian,

I had a short test drive last night, the weather was awful so it was pretty hard to really give it a good go. The car also had only 8 miles on the clock so was taking it easy, but first honest impressions (being in mind that i have a 12mth old TFSI).

Car looked great in yellow.

Seats superb, steering wheel excellent but the gear knob would have to go!

Interior bit bland and i would definately get the aluminium look trim for the doors and speakers and the armrest is a must to reduce the amount of hard plastic on show.

Felt very similar to my TFSI only quicker, sounded good but was raining so hard was hard to really hear the turbo, but easily kept up with a 221bhp RX8 that was looking to play.

Brakes felt very soft  (also picked up on by the dealer)

So will i be getting one, well i need another drive in the dry but probably yes

If you get a chance try the FR TFSI (with 18"s) and imagine that with better road holding and 40 extra bhp and you'll be about right.

cheers

Rob

i have the car for 15 days and only today i reached 1500km and opened the throttle fully for a while!so generally the car is very well built, about 38mpg,a real long distance traveller except for very little road noise from the back and with an engine capable of pleasing everybody!if you want all the passengers will think its a 1.6 lt and if you don"t they will be scared sh...less!!!!buy it!!

Hi Mork

yeh they were very very soft. I noticed it straight away and when the dealer then drove the car noticed the same thing. Something was definately not right:confused:
