Hi all, new around here so be gentle!

Is £8,400 a good price for a brand new one of these? Seems to be quite a bit more most places.

Cheers

The spec is one of the big selling points for me - climate control, cruise control, 16 inch alloys, rain/light sensors, tinted windows, auto rear view mirror, Side airbags, leather steering wheel, folding mirrors, fog lights.

Not a lot of other cars available for 8.4k with that spec. Also offered a very good part ex on the current car as well, better than anyone else.

go for it then :) consider 1.2 tsi too btw

The 1.2 isn't available on the deal.

I was really just wanting to be sure that 8.4k was a good price, or if there is any more room in it. Most of the dealers I have asked to try and beat it have thought I was making it up.

Will you tell us the name of the dealer so we can form an orderly queue!! I'd bite the dealer's hand off at that price! 3 door or 5 door?

That sounds like an excellent deal! If you are not expecting a quick car, but like reliability, reasonable running costs and a great level of kit, then you can't go far wrong with this car. Under £8.5K is a brilliant deal for a brand new 1.4 Copa SE. You are getting a lot of car for your cash!

Its good but its not worth the extra, you'd be looking at least another £2k - £3k on top.

yeah but bare in mind my mpg is getting worse and worse in the 1.4 im not gettin 217miles for a full tank

the car is shocking for power and mpg winter has made it worse i can only assume things like lights heaters and grip has affected this

On average ive worked out it costs me 55 quid every two weeks so that's 1430 a yr in petrol x 5 yrs as that's how long the finance is and yes I intend to keep it that long that's £7130.

On the 1.2 it's 30 every two weeks so thats 780 a yr so over same terms its 3900 for 5 yrs then add the 2 or 3k and at worse its 6900 for same time and a loads more fun. I own a 1.4 tank and wish just from the reality of that wishes I had a 1.2 tsi

To be honest as long as the OP isn't after a quick supermini, then it's a no-brainer. He should go for it! Yeah fuel consumption is old-school for a 1.4 and he will be averaging around 40MPG but at the price the car is being sold for the OP would have to cover A LOT of miles to make up the 3K difference in price.

BaldyDave is making the same point as me.

My 1.2 TSI does 45 mpg. A 1.4 might do 40 mpg.

10,000 miles at 45 mpg is 222 gals.
10,000 miles at 40 mpg is 250 gals.
Difference is 28 gals or 127 litres for which I'd pay £167.

So to save £2000 I'd need to do 10,000 * 2000/167 = 119760 miles.
And yes the road tax will be a little more

I agree with the above, do the maths and the 1.4 makes more sense in this case.

My MPG has dipped a little but I'm still getting at least 400 miles to a tank easily enough.

Yep, it was Perrys and an order has now been placed.

To be honest, we didn't think an Ibiza was in our price range (up to 8.5k on finance). Against our better judgement, we nearly ordered a Ford KA as it seemed to the best spec car we could get in the money, with a deal that gave us a decent amount on the part ex. We were pretty close, but then spotted this deal. Other cars in the price bracket were nasty or we couldn't get a deal on.

The MPG is a consideration, but as pointed out above and with the miles we will be doing, it isn't a massive issue. As long as its reliable, goes pretty well and is of a good spec, we will be happy. It's much more car for the money than a nasty KA and pretty much any other car available at 8.5k

Looking forward to it now to be honest. It's my wife's car actually and the trade in is her Smart. So, bit of a change, but needed with nippers now and the MPG is pretty crappy on the Smart to be fair considering.

It's a Emocion red, 3 door and will be with us just after Xmas and will include 3 years free servicing.

Any tips on what to look out for on collection, anything particular for running in and any other general tips as a new Seat owner?

Also, we are actually in Kidderminster, so for service/warranty it will be Listers Droitwich or Clarks Kidderminster. Any thoughts either way?

Nice choice :)

Can't think of anything to watch out for when collecting, should all be OK. As for warranty, you can use it at any SEAT dealer.

Either, I use both however, I have not been into Droitwich Garage since it was took over by Lister's, the tech's say change's so far are for the better. . .
