New Wheels

Possibly in need of some new wheels for the Mk2 Cupra R and slightly confused.

Currently Oem 19’s which I believe are 8jx19 et53, I cannot find any aftermarket wheel in this spec and I can’t seem to find any that don’t poke out further, due to lowering I can’t afford this as it’ll rub, my current do with 8mm spacers.

Am I missing something or do aftermarket alloys not come in the size equivalent of the standard set?

And also would I need new sensors for the tyre pressure sensor?

Looking at the below, do these seem the correct fit, using the calculator in the above sticky I think they are as close as I can get.

That fit is identical to the standard OEM wheels.

You’d get a better look with an offset closer to 40.

Apart from I have 8mm spacers on currently and they rub so worried if I spend 1k on new wheels with an offset not near standard I’ll have issues, think the lowest ET I’m prepared to go is 48 which will give it a pole of 5mm compared to standard.

Apologises brain was in Mk3, not Mk2. 19x8 ET50 is standard Mk3 wheels. Not sure of offset for Mk2. Thought the 19’s where the same, but obviously what rubs isn’t. I’d be surprised if an offset of 45 would rub on a 19x8 though and then no need for spacers.

Standard are 19x8, ET53 on mine.

Ahh makes sense then.

The other option is maybe go for an 8.5” wide rim asssuming a 235/35 tyre. A more aggressive offset on an 8.5” rim won’t result in the tyre as being close to the bodywork, as the tyre will be stretched over a wider wheel. So the tyre should taper in more. Will give you the stance/poke you’re after but not necessarily the rubbing.

But I suppose it depends where it’s rubbing and how low you are.

With a stretch tyre will it make the ride more crashy?

Its not really stretched as such, its just the only way i can think of explaining it, its just not as squashed. 235" is a recommended tyre on an 8" rim, although 245 is okay too. 235 on a 8.5" is also a recommended tyre size. On FR's, 19"x8" wheels have 225 vs the Cupra 235's.

Change of wheels, looking at these as come in about £650, staggered fit so they’ll poke 3mm more than standard on the front and 8mm on the rear so should look slightly better than standard and not rub . Just not sure on the colour, the car is white, both the wheels can have the coloured insert in either blue, red, or green.

Im on the same boat, not sure if I can fit these:
https://konigwheels.com/wheels/flow-formed-wheels/ampliform/

18x8.5 ET44 rims with 235/40/R18 tyres

factory wheels are 16x6.5 ET38 with 205/55/R16 tyres

in my country wheel spacers are banned and Im afraid wheels could touch my brakes or something.

I currently fit 19 rims and 235/35/R19 tyres but I dont know rim width and offset, previous owner doesn't know it either and I cant even find my rims name or model lol its made by FOX and they are surely heavy as hell. I bet the new ones will be much more lighter.

Wait I’m being a muppet and assuming Mk3 forum not this forum. Standard mk1’s are 18x8 from memory but don’t know the offset sorry.
