Complete sense of failure today.
Managed to change the rear near side discs and pads on my 2007 tfsi FR today, but for love nor money couldn't get the bottom spline bolt for the caliper carrier undone on the offside.
2 hours of kerfaffing, f'ing and jeffing and I've resigned myself to having to book into a garage now for just 1 disc and pad set replacement. Sad face when putting it all back together again. What a waste of money. Just too god darn tight and inaccessible

Nightmare when that stuff happens. Had similar issue when changing my fronts the other week. Took me 1.5 hours to get the offside disc off as the torx bolt which holds the disc on had rounded off, but the nearside was done in less than 30 mins.

I would just ask the garage to loosen the bolt for you.
