Was carefully comming off a kerb tonight (lowered section of kerb I had used to get up onto kerb was blocked by another car) when the kerb edge gave way and my wheel scraped down the side of it pinching the tyre and cutting a wedge out of the side wall.
Got a 10cm scrape around the edge of the alloy, which I can deal with, but the side wall now has exposed white cotton looking strands where the chunk is missing so the tyre is f**ked [:@]

The Seat Dealer fitted 2 new tyres to the car last week as well when I bought it, which have covered about 350 miles so I might just opt to change the damaged tyre?
They are Firestone Firehawk SZ 80 225/45 ZR17 91Y and seem to come in just slightly more price wise than Gooodyear Eagle F1's on mytres.co.uk

I am now in a dilemma though on whether to have two new front boots and sell the 1 good tyre on Ebay?

Sorry to hear that matey.
If your fronts have only done 350 miles i would just buy 1 tyre.
If you got 2 new tyres when buying the car, then they should really have been put on the rear anyway. Put the new tyre and the nearly new one on the rear.

The rears are Bridgestone Potenza's and have plenty of tread left, opted to have two new fronts put on, Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 225/45 R17 91Y £200 fitted.
Will sell the other Firestone Firehawk SZ80 on eBay for £50 or summit.

Eagle F1s are supposed to be great, though my 2 new ones are on the rear so wont really know for sure until my front 2 Potenzas are needing replaced and i have F1s on all 4 corners....

I would keep the trye as a spare in the garage. If you get a puncture at least you have one ready to go . Not all trye places stock the 225/45/17's.

I see what you are saying, but

A. I have to have the same tyres on each side as I am a picky sod...

B. King David supply depot is near my house so they can get a tyre by the afternoon and stock/supply most tyre places in South Wales

:)

If I cannot sell it on ebay I will keep as an emergency tyre.

Very sorry to hear that also.

Key lesson learnt - Never mount a kerb at an angle less than 45 deg with low profile tyres.

I guess thats the last thing you wanted to hear, but it may save anyone else reading the same agony.
