Hey so I am pretty much idiotic when it comes to these things.. always had someone else to fit my sound system stuff for me! I have my old sub and wiring kit from my last car and want to put this straight into my ibiza.. standard HU. I have found a lot about fitting amps and amping the speakers.. which i dont really understand.. but is this the same for a sub? it has a built in amp already? Will I have to wire it from the rear speakers? And if I do that will the speakers still work?:headhurt:

Thanks in advance!

well I'm reallllly not sure to be honest! I definitely would just put my old head unit in as i loved it, if it was simple. But I don't really want to have a lot of buttons on the dash that don't do anything if I put the new HU under the steering wheel or where ever, and I don't really understand, despite reading all the relevant posts i could find, how to install a new HU where the current one is.. and still be able to do all the heating, ac etc. So I'm thinking it would be easier to fit a CD changer and sub into the boot? I could be very wrong?!

haha yea thats what i did in my old car but someone on one of the posts said something about "pairing" it off the wires in the back speakers?!? which I don't understand and none of my friends want to touch it because they've only done normal ones! And can I get a professional to do it when I don't actually want to buy any equipment or anything? sorry I'm sounding so dumb!

i'd say get an audio company do it for you...basically if you want it to sound decent get a head unit, choose a subwoofer and get a custom box built, then get them to fit it for ya

make sure they know what they're doing...they should be able to provide you with a portfolio of setups if they are proper

getting it all plugged up should cost you around £50, provided you have bought all the rest...if not they should be able to order everything for you and plug it up when you're ready

i wouldn't suggest pairing the sub off the speakers as the sub won't play at its best

what sub box is it? any details on this?

some now have the hi level inputs on the amp which is basically splicing of the rear speaker wires and connect them to the amp, (+ - + -) . if it just has the rca inputs, as above get a hi-low convertor which you will connect to the existing rear speaker wires, and a rca cable in either 1m or 2m in length, the amp on the box will be a bass amp so that would filter out all the high frequencies. job done
