So i have posted on here before and always get a brilliant response! This problem is killing me and costing ££££ so any help will be greatly received!!
So brief history. I bought a 57 plate Seat Ibiza Cupra Diesel in Nov 11. got it mapped at ********** in December time! was told its a 200bhp 300f/lb torque map! not to aggressive and from a very reputable mapping/performance company.
So Turbo blew when in at Seat for a service! Seat paid 50% and i just thought unlucky but thought that would be the end of it. NOOOOO I started to get Limp mode only at around 3000rpm when cruising, no faults logged, and only once or twice per month. so key off then on and start again, i only used to get it in 6th gear and over 80mph.A thick cloud of black smoke also accompanies this problem. Now im getting it all the time, still only around 3000rpm but now in any gear!! so i took it to a respected VAG turner who has:-
Pressure tested system all 100% ok
all maf/map sensors test out ok
Tested n75 with external vacuum, actuator goes to full boost position so 100% ok
has felt turbo with hands all feels ok!
no faults logged on VAG com but we are getting a NEGATIVE boost DEVIATION fault code when limp mode kicks in. not 100% sure on the VAGCOM code itself.
So the boys checked out the MAP and said it looks like everything is turned up to 11. Infact they have posted it on a MAPing forum and everybody agrees its a ridiculous MAP.Not wat i asked for, Remember this is from one of the best???? and recommended companies that MAP VAGs.
so Original SEAT map is back in place and still getting limp mode not as often but its still there.
smoke has reduced but so has performance,
we reckon the turbo isn't making full boost, obviously, but why? could map have fried turbo but it still works? Any Ideas or advice will be awesome otherwise its of to Seat to try get turbo fixed on warranty (still in date from last turbo change). but the car is really undrivable THANKS GUYS, VIVA LA CUPRA!!!!

Have you tried giving the car a bit of abuse?
It could be blocked vnt in the turbo and blocked egr and inlet manifold if this is the case get the engine up to temp then redline it in the highest gear you can 4th or 3rd preferably up hill but not essential.
I won't take any responsibility if this isn't the problem causes the engine or turbos death.
Who are the people that checked your map?
How many miles has your car done?

The cars on about 80k new turbo at 70k.
Egr was blanked and mapped out, put it back on now as its on og SEAT map, but this has made things a lot worse!!! worse response and loads of flat spots.
RK engineering in Cornwall are checking it out, highly recommended by everybody i know with VAG cars. they work with Custom code and do their own MAPS.
I'm not going to name the original MAPers ..........yet!!!!
will give it a blast tonight on my way home! and I know of just the hill ;).
Blocked exhaust manifold or blocked cat has been mentioned as the next thing to check. not sure if they have looked into inlet manifold, but i doubt is as turbo would have to come off surely. thanks for your advice .AL

sounds like boost leak to me, check hoses at top and bottom of intercooler. look for oil staining
if you have vag.com log group 11 and check group 8 and 3.
could be maf or map sensor also
was it a genuine turbo that was replaced as it could be set up wrong

Problem solved

YEEEEWWWWWW problem solved! NEW TURBO replaced under warranty, turns out it was a blockage in the CAT from the last time the turbo sh*t itself! seat replaced last turbo so hence all work done under warranty, doubt the turbo was knackered but got a new one anyway...............car is flying now. thanks for the advice :D
