Pollution light - starting problems

Morning All,

I'm a bit concerned with my 2002 VT. The pollution light has been on for about 3 months now and recently the car has had real difficulty in starting and it seems to be getting more frequent. Not sure if the two are related.

I now have to turn the key and keep it fully turned for up to 10 seconds before the engine starts and I've seen grey/blue smoke come out of the exhaust.

Its due a service in November, but I wonder if it will make it!

Any ideas?

Polution light could be a number of things, how is the performance of the car when it's running?

Absolutely fine. When the car has started there are no problems at all. Ideals at just over 1000 rpm as normal, sounds normal, etc.

I had this problem recently and had my mechanic have a look it appears that there was no problem with the car even when linked to a pc so he reset the light but then the battery died, I believe the two were linked, so i went out and got a new battery and all is ok again !!
