May be a stupid question but can I not register as I didn't purchase my VCDS directly from Ross-Tech?

If you bought a cheap one then trying to register it will screw up the cable otherwise I think youll have to contact them to change the licence (you may have to pay)

I've not made enough posts on here so I can't post the exact one but it's number 221216341619 on eBay.
It installs and everything fine but when you plug it to a car and try and code read or anything it comes up with
K1: ready
K2: ready
CAN: not ready
And above that 'interface not ready'
Tried it on a 2004 Audi A4 and a 2008 Passat.

Be very careful about buying VCDS ross tech vag coms from ebay. Once they are registered to someone i dont believe you can change that to another person as it is fixed and some people sell stolen ones on there that ross tech have bared. Once the lead has been bared it is a paper weight as ross tech cant unbar it.
