Question about approved used criteria

Hi guys

Currently hunting for a nice FR. As my past track record with cars isn't great I'm looking at main dealers for the reassurance of a 12mth manufacturer warranty back up. I've noticed some dealers have cars that aren't 'approved used' and therefore don't have the SEAT warranty.

What criteria does the car or dealer have to fulfil to be able to have a warranty from SEAT? would an AA warranty be just as comprehensive should I have an issue?

cheers

Perhaps it's finance based? If they're not going to make a huge profit on a car due to it's age or condition they don't bother with the warranty? Or they calculate the risk of adding a warranty and decide they're likely to be paying out in the near future?

with all new Seat cars (and most other brands too) the manufacturer covers the car for 1 year and then the dealer covers the car for the other 2. So any car over 1 year old does not actually get a manufacture warranty. Always read the small print with any warranty as there are quite a lot of stuff not covered.
For example (adjustments) are not normally covered and (consumable parts) are not covered. consumable parts that I can think of are brake pads and disks/clutch friction disk/wipers/exhaust/tyres/bulbs and filters.

I would say that a Dealer warranty would be better than an AA one though.

You will not get a manufacturer warranty the same as a new car so it is known as approved used as the administration is done by the manufacturer and it is supported by them and will give similar cover to any other warranty but just looks nice for the buyer. As with all used warranty products it will be a lesser cover than manufacturers warranty and appropriate to the cars age etc.

My MY11 Ecomotive came with 2 years manufacturer (unlimited mileage) and 1 year dealer (total 60k miles max). ;)

The last year of warranty is usually covered by the dealer and when I bought mine from SEAT main dealers the salesman assured me it had 12 months warranty, but it then turned out to only have the remaining 6 months of the original 3 year warranty when it came down to work needing to be done, be careful.
