Hi,

is there a quick and easy way to mute the satnav without fiddling about with settings?

My mate's focus can be muted from the main screen.

You can also set it via the set up menu not to give sat nav announcements during phone calls. Handy when you tell t'wife you are somewhere when you are actually somewhere else .... ;)

Use the voice command function. It's something like "navigation announcements off" ( different to the voice command on my wife's Audi oddly) if you have it.

Hi Yellowcone, thanks for your quick reply, I’ve tried that, it doesn’t seem to work on mine, which is a June 2013 registered car.

Works on mine which is also a June 2013 car.

Does the scroll wheel mute the radio or media? If it does then there's something wrong on the nav side of things, if it doesn't then there's something up with your scroll wheel or mute function altogether.

Meppershall Beds.
the scroll wheel should do it....there has been an advice for dealer for faulty steering wheel controls.
Maybe your dealer hasn't done yours - has it been in for anything recently?

Hi Chaps, thanks for the replies. The scroll wheel mutes the media & I’ve just tried it in the garage & it muted the sat nav - doh!
Mr bugle could you tell me the command to mute the sat nav? Tried ‘navigation announcements off’ but that didn’t work - could be my accent!

I use the voice command to mute - thought it was navigation announcements off but that might be for my wife's car. If you put the nav screen up and press the the voice command button on the steering wheel, it should bring up a list of available commands you can use (I think from memory...) Will try it out again later and report back if you've not had any joy.

Hi Chaps, thanks for the replies. The scroll wheel mutes the media

The scroll wheel will adjust volume of whatever is playing at the time..
I.e., when a sat nav announcement comes up, it'll adjust the volume of the sat nav if adjusted during the announcement. If no announcement is playing, then it'll do media/radio/cd or phone, depending what is playing.

I had the traverse issue, hard to unmute without going through menus - no announcement to adjust volume of!

Pressing the right scroll wheel will also repeat the last Sat Nav direction, which is useful.:)

I've got an Altea XL as a loan car at the moment while mine is repaired. I was rather amused earlier today when it told me to 'Follow the road for a long time'...

Just checked on my system and command is indeed "navigation announcements on/off"

I can't remember if I had to do some setting up when I first got the car i.e. training the system to recognise my voice like some previous voice activated systems I've used - maybe that's where your accent comes in?
