The voice of formula one. I grew watching F1 and listening to his iconic commentary packed full of Murrayisms! R.I.P to the legend, Murray Walker

He was staying in the same hotel as I was some years ago. A very nice man - RIP.

Such a loss, I remember sitting with my grandad early 90s watching f1 to that iconic soundtrack.

Met him at Knockhill once when an older F1 car was brought up to the Touring Car weekend in the early 90’s.

I did too at that event, made my weekend meeting him, was it a Footwork F1?

Sorry sometime vague things stick in my head, just thought it was the Footwork powered by a Judd engine, fairly echoed off the hills as it went round the track.

The sound of it was fantastic as it came through the speakers dotted around the track too.

Had many a great weekend up at Knockhill watching the Touring Cars. That was proper racing and the support races were all good too, Renault Clio’s, Fiesta’s, Big Camaro’s and the little Hillman imps.

We were lucky enough one year to be staying in the same Hotel as Matt Neil and his crew and we got lots of time in their pit area too.

The man was what made motor racing back in the day.
What a wonderful life too.
One of the greats.
Here are a few of his best lines.
