Hi, I've got a 1.8tsi 2014 leon (ea888 engine) I had a low coolant alarm the other day and topped it up. Pressure tested it and had a look around the water pump etc. No signs of a leak.
I didn't get the rad cap tested however understand it should lift between 1.6 and 1.8 bar from the workshop manual to protect the system. Not sure what's happening maybe worth getting a new cap ( easy fix)?
However I was thinking if the silica bag has a leak and the silica is causing some sort of back pressure the issue could be more than a new rad cap. Is this possible however as it's not a pressure driven pumped system is it? I've seen people have lost heating with silica bag issues However mine appears to be ok for now at least.
Any advice would be appreciated.
