Rattle in Windshield Vent

Hello All,

I have a very annoying rattle on the right hand side of the windshield vent, it sounds like a screw loose but I cannot see it or get access to the vent at all.

Does the whole dash need to be removed to get access to that vent or can I somehow remove the vent itself?

Any information is appreciated. Thank you!

The workshop manuals are here - you need one titled ‘general body repairs, interior’:

In theory the removal of the vent (one shown or the window de-mister above) is the same using trim removal tool - see attached image.

Are you sure the noise is not coming from the A Pillar vibrating against the dash? If so remove the A pillar and put fabric tape around the bottom edge a refit.

Hi @black_sheep,

Thanks for that.

Sorry I should have been more specific, its the vent described in the picture below.

Is it the same approach taken a.k.a using the trim removal tool?

And the rattle is most definitely coming out of that vent as when you sometimes push down on it the rattle stops and continues when pressure is removed.

Similar - the speaker trim removal is in the same workshop manual:

Just be careful removing the panel, as I seem to recall gps sensor is under there too.
