Hi guys,

Need some help on this one.

My Leon is riding pretty bad on the rear, too uncomfortable and bouncy.

Need to replace the shocks, and i'm looking only for comfort.

The wheels and tyres are, 225 45 17.
The axle is not multilink.

What do you guys advise?

Thanks

How many miles/km have you done? I found that when I bought my car new it felt a bit like that, the tyre pressures were set too high for comfort.

Realistically if you want comfort you'd probably have to replace them and the springs with ones from one of the lower models like the SE or so.

You'd probably want to do all four too as the FR sits lower so it would look silly if you just did the rear.

But then by doing all that begs the question, why bother with the FR? I'd say it was one of the main selling points.

I'd advise you replace the struts with the exact same ones, only brand new. If the car is bouncy then likely one or both are worn out, the FR rear is not bouncy or soft but hard so it sounds like you have a fault.

Thanks for the reply’s.

There’s one important thing that I forgot to say.

My shocks and springs fitted are from a Leon with DCC, I was going to retrofit them. I’ve installed them but still haven’t bought the cables, sensors and ECu.

I’m a little afraid of spending the money on the electronics and the rear shocks are damaged.

So my front shocks are 55mm fitted on aluminum wheel hub.

So with this new information, is it possible to install better shocks/springs?
