Rear wiper

When I want to give the rear window a quick wipe the wiper will do half a dozen full sweeps and then will stop randomlyat any position on the window. It can be annoying when it stops vertically. If I try a few times I can get it to stop in the 'normal' horizontal position at the bottom of the window.

Is there a way of getting the wiper to stop horizontally? All I do to operate it is push the wiper stalk forward for a second then bring it back, am I doing something wrong?

It looks like a glitch for me.
When I want to do a quick wipe it always comes back to the starting position. I can't remember my wiper ending in some random manner.

I know this will drag up an old post, but my 14 plate leon has started doing this
Did you ever find a solution?

Had my rear wiper motor replaced under warranty as it occasionally stopped in the middle of the rear window. I managed to get it to them when it was already seated in the wrong position... although the dealer said they couldn't replicate, they replaced it without any qualms.

Mine does this occasionally and mostly either when it's very cold or when the window and/or wiper is a bit manky. For me, flicking it on and off a couple of times and scooshing some water helps it return to the right position in the end.

It's a minor PITA but my car's out of warranty and I'm not paying for a new motor!
