Remap ECU Nightmare

I basically bought a already mapped yet with no proof Leon Cupra 2003 with AUQ engine recently, only mods it had were a panel filter and scorpian cat back.

I then fitted a front mount cooler, forge 007 d/v, decat, removed the N249, N112, and SAI system

I then took it or tried taking it to RTech Hinckley and was told over the phone they couldnt touch it, because whoever would have mapped it would have put a lock on the ECU to stop other tuners modifying it or stealing the map file.

So its a quick enough car, i have no idea what its putting out, its not what id call torquey judging by other Cupras id owned, and its pretty humble up till around 2500 revs then all hell breaks loose and it pulls well through the gears to licence loosing speeds in no time.

So im kind of annoyed ive spent around £400 inc fitting and now i cant map it to match the mods, was hoping to get it custom stage 2 mapped.

If i buy another ECU from a standard AUQ and fit it to mine will this work? I understand my keys wont start it, but I have full vagcom so could i link my keys to the ECU or is it not as simple as that? Or can i just plug the new ECU in and turn the immobliser off in vagcom?

Thanks

Do you not need vag tacho for immobiliser matching etc ?
Also, I do not see a problem putting another map on it to match your mods, I have my lcr mapped and I'm booked in with Badger5 for a stage 2 in a few weeks, he doesn't foresee a problem. Perhaps you should give him a call.

surely they could still write a stock file on to it? whip and start a fresh.

its very hard to properly lock out a me7.5 from reading every way possible and very hard to fully lock out the ability to write a stock file straight on the ecu.

if you get a new ecu you'll need it deimmobilized to run the car. or
You'll need the skc pin code to recode and reactivate the ecu into the immobilizer system

i'm only on the outside of peterborough if needed, can clone the old ecu immo data into the new ecu so both run the car etc etc

Well I'm guessing you didn't speak with Niki himself?

He's a legend, went there recently with my Cupra that was mapped with a no read file lock on the ECU. Basically same thing yours has.

He was able to get around that though put the car back to standard then wrote a new custom stage1 map.

I'm with Andy on this if you do your research Niki is rated one of the best in the country and to be honest if I'd have gone many places the ECU would have ended up in the bin.

I'd suggest going down and speaking to him rather than ringing as you will soon realise just how knowledgable this guy really is.

Badger is also highly rated but as R-Tech are on your doorstep it's a no brainer.

No offence but is rtech are so rated highly then why couldn't they unlock a simple me7.5 ecu

But then again why couldn't they just flash a stock file over the top and tune it.

You don't need to read the old file off as you can erase the flash and write stock file straight over without a problem.

Noread can be removed in seconds it's not a hard task. Any protection more than that then just wipe the flash chip and start a fresh.

Simples.
