I'm losing the will to live with this locking system.

So today, battery in the remote died whilst out for a walk.
Unlock car with old fashioned key and enjoy driving the car ten miles with the alarm going off,
trying not to bite the head off the missus as various bone suggestions are suggested.

Replace remote battery, remote now unlocks car fine.....................

BUT

...............the remote won't lock the car.
(Red lights work fine with either button presses.)

Help!

I've done everything possible, push this button and that one O now this one, tap on it blow it sniff it... sh1t all worked.
So yep gonna just get a new key.
Sorry I can't be of any real help.

Misery Loves Company, so true of these locks.

Supersticky, you have searched for sychronising the remote?

Unfortunately mine seems to be another gremlin.

VCDS shows all doors as "closed", when the fob locking isn't working.
So it isn't that buggered lock module switch.
Red fob light flashes as you press the lock button.
I've left the car battery disconnected tonight, just in case the car reboots fresh tomorrow.

Hark!
Do I hear the rumble, of pigs warming engines?

Fixed it!

Took the remote apart.
As the red led worked, then that meant the battery & switch worked.
The copper track splits from the lock button, one branch to the LED, the other to a surface mount resistor then to a rivet to take it to the other side of the board, then to mystery black thing.
Test meter showed no continuity one end to the other, but each end of the resistor gave 910 ohms.
Resoldered resistor & now continuity is 910 ohms.
Reassemble & now it works.

You need a really tiny soldering iron though.
