Removing climate control unit from centre console?

Trying to replace a water damaged climate control unit from the centre console but can't seem to get any of the trim off. There appears to be two pieces either side of the unit that should pop off to reveal the screws but I've seriously tried and they won't budge. Close to denting the plastic..

Any tips?

It's quite common for the LCD screens on the climate control unit to fail on these cars and have seen many 'bleed' like that.

To access the retaining screws you'll first need to remove the following parts in this order.

Stereo head unit (removal keys required)
Lower ashtray / 12v socket (1x pozi screw)
Facia surround trim (6 torx screws iirc)

Okay so got the ashtray and most of the stereo out, how do I remove the rest as the trim is still stuck around the stereo somewhere.

Pic attached.

Got it out and replaced. But now the blower unit behind the glove box is all of a sudden noisy. All I did was put a new climate control unit in??

Annoyingly you may have to get your glovebox out and check the blower unit. I had this issue and there was a piece of sheet plastic in there. Made the dash vibrate when i tried to use the blower.
