Retrofit ACC?

Hello,

I’ve had a search around but not really found a definitive answer to this. Is it possible to retrofit ACC if the front assist radar is already installed in the grille? I also have the lane / traffic sign camera, and therefore the separate (3rd) cruise control stalk.
Car is a facelift Leon FR 184 2.0 diesel manual.

Cheers :)

Interested to see how you get on with this! I’ve got the part list ready to order and I’m just researching a bit more on how to set it all up. I think the radar will need calibrating, but not quite sure how to do that.

If you have all that, not sure why you don’t have it already?

I believe it’s still an extra option that needs to be ticked. The cruise control stalk is slightly different, the ACC version has a “distance” adjustment on the top whereas mine doesn’t

You can adjust the distance in the infotainment display, so if you can turn it on with VCDS/Carista/OBDEleven doubt you’d even need the stalk changing.

Also interested in this. Couple of garages can now calibrate acc for £100 which is cheap compared to dealers prices.

I think the main difficulty is getting the stalk for it installed. Right, it’s back at the top of my to do list.

Is the stalk the same as the one for standard cruise control?

No i believe its a different one to the one for cars with standard cruise control. No idea how hard it is to install and configure.

It’s the acc - there’s a switch for setting distance and a switch for setting speed.

I am sure that stalk is the same as standard cruise.. Sure looks like my standard cruise stalk

I have standard cruise at the moment, there’s a subtle difference between mine and the one in the picture. If you look closely, there’s a “Distance” wheel/switch at the top edge. Mine doesn’t have that.

How tricky would it be to enable ACC in OBD eleven? I have the pro edition so can give it a go and report back if someone gave me some pointers

TBH, ACC ain't all that - when people overtake you and cut you off, it just slams the brakes.
Also, when a car moves out of your way, it takes a fair amount of time to react and understand it can accelerate again.
It has nice sides also, but for instance in Finland, when the sensor gets blocked with snow, it stops working altogether and you have no cruise control at all - it cannot fallback to traditional cruise control functionality.

I thought you could turn it off in the infotainment and just use normal cruise control. I like it purely for the piece of mind of the front assist though.

Ignore me, I misread what the option was in the menu as just looked. Weirdly you can turn front assist off but not ACC...

Not sure whether I would want to risk retrofitting ACC. Imagine that with insurance when it fails and you plough into the back of a car in front.

I’d hope my reaction times were still pretty sharp haha!

But yeah I see what you’re saying. Hmm.
