Retrofit Mib2 High & Obdeleven double entry after of the 5F unit

I did read about it, but got it myself after I used wizards to convert my unit into a retrofit tired of the Mapcare situation. Obdeleven thinks it has two infotainment units installed :). Bit confusing.

The solution I remembered was that you cleared the Android cache for Obdeleven of a 5F unit... although couldn't find that text again on the net. Worried I'd loose passwords for it which you don't often use, borrowed the partners tablet for a fresh install. If I managed to get Obdeleven working on that with the dongle I'd know that I hadn't lost my password and could then clear the apps cache on mine.... did read the Obdeleven people are difficult to contact so didn't want to mess it up.

It worked fine on the second tablet, only one infotainment unit showing. Then set about to clear the cache on my device, but using a second device fixed it. The last scan must populate the database back in Slovakia so I only had the one 5F unit shown on my device after another scan before I set about clearing the cache. Success. Been a success all round.

I also noticed the same while doing some coding changed in 5F, it appeared twice in controllers.
Instinctively I turned off the car, kill the obdeleven app, and restarted again, and did a refresh of controllers (by pulling down from top: refresh) and it showed only once. So, I think it was some session cache issue.

one question:
what is mapcare? can you update the map on retrofit unit? please let me know how..

I installed MIB2 high unit ( hacked one ) which still shows component protection active in obdeleven ( in 09 and 5F ), but everything works.

The problem was I'd like to have checked the text I'd read before I cleared the catche, but using a second device that had never had the unit in it fixed it. Strange thou I'd set another pin number but it didn't use it other than 1234. I can only think the other pin ties my login to one dongled, rather than protecting the dongle.

Yep you can update the maps on a retrofit unit that's derigour. That's why I got it done. Gamble that they would screw it up, but took that gamble. It moved from the 2016 software to the 2018 5f software. A few release numbers below those you see on the Tarraco launch image on this site. I did wonder why the graphics changed and wifi mode screens work as 2018 till I saw the software change. Plus I get a volume navigation speech icon, bottom right and it now tells me on a strip that stop start is turned off from time to time. All new from the 2016 software on the unit.

I haven't checked whether component protection is turned off. There is that one that if you have the swap / FEC codes and cp is turned off then you keep navigation. Hmmm well I do have those codes but not attached to the cars VIN, but it is my car and my unit :). Seem to be using someone else's codes now or dummy ones if CP is taken off. There have been 15 searches on that VIN.

I was present during the process in the drivers side. It took 2 hours. They were pretty professional. It went on ODIS at one point. Maps are imported via the SWDL command which is the way that retrofits work. The long hold on the Menu button. Manual and start are blocked in the SWDL which were not before. You just press update in the SWDL menu with an SD card map update in, mib2 high and off it goes. Needs continuous power for about an hour.

You might wish to try it if you can't update maps yourself. You might have it on yours.
