Hi guys,

I picked up my 280 cupra a few weeks ago now with all of the options (apart from leather.) I have checked out the winter and driver packs but I can't seem to see any evidence of the safety pack.

I'm sure the safety pack was rear seatbelt indicators as well as a tiredness detection system.

In the setup it does not say "tiredness detection system" like in the manual i downloaded but "driver alert system", is this the same thing?

also I had my girlfriend sit in the back at the weekend with no seatbelt to see if it gave an alert and it didn't. Worst case they forgot to put it on and I might need a refund for the money it cost.

Thanks.

On another note I have done 275 miles with 3 bars of fuel remaining and have not even taken it above 4k RPM's yet until I do 600, it's frustrating!

Love the car otherwise.

Are you advised not to do this until you hit 600 miles then? Seems odd to me.

This is where I got it from.

(I have driven everywhere in comfort mode and never exceeded 70 on the motorway - this is ok right?)

Anything on the safety pack?

i'm a noob to having a brand new car!

As far as i understand it, just drive it as you would normally. New cars don't need running in as such, obviously it would benefit from no launches off the line lol but other than that i don't think there's much to worry about.

Just to add to this some motorsport companies run their engines in at maximum load / RPM because this hones the cylinders etc in at "operating" conditions and apparently gives a better performing engine... and depending how you read that excerpt you posted;

"How the vehicle is driven for the first 1000miles affects the future engine performance"

Doesn't really say any different :D

I'd be as wary as yourself to be honest... unlike motorsport companies, I can't rebuild an engine every weekend!

Regarding the safety pack, you can tell if you have it by looking at the bottom right of the instrument panel display (where the trip counter normally is) when you first start the car.
You should see three 'people' icons. Those icons change according to which of the three rear seatbelts are fastened.
The display reverts to trip counter after about 30 seconds I think.
There's no warning noise, like you get one the front seatbelts, its just symbols telling you which are fastened.

Personally I followed the max RPM rule for first 1500 km.
I don't believe it can affect engine condition in the warranty period.
Question is if you care what happens after ;)

Regarding the safety pack - just check it in the pricelist on SEAT website.
