SatNav Underlying Software Fault

Several times now my UK SatNav has transported me to the middle of Germany! I can't get back unless I turn off ignition for a while and start again. Car is 1st Registered October 2013 and SatNav is part of the Technology pack. Map software is V3.

Reported to dealer & Seat UK - no joy. They say software up to date. I can't believe no updates in over 12 months. Anyone know the latest software version (not the maps) and how to check which software version is installed? I've been following these threads about mapping software updates, so understand the UK issues. This isn't about the maps (I think) but the underlying software.

Regards, Bob

ask them to replace the media unit, seat uk are aware of underlying issues with the system such as people having units freeze.

visit to supplying dealer is what i would suggest

Here is my default destination:

I have never been to Wolfsburg but my journey occasionally starts here:

There are all sorts of part number changes which I have compiled here:

Device Part No: 5F0035858 - 5F0035858A
Hardware: 039-040
Software: 0132 and 0421 and 0425
navigation database: 5F0919866C 0021 ECE 201- 5F0919866E 0034 ECE 2013/2014 - 5F0919866F 0036 ECE 2014

I am led to believe that NO changes can be made to any except the last which is the paid for maps SD card

Someone on here had a replacement unit which was actually a downgrade:
5F0035846
039
0151
5F0919866C 0021 ECE 2013

Be careful what you wish for.

You can get to yours like this:
Menu Button/ Setup/ System Info and then you should see

Device Part No: ?

Hardware:?

Software:?

Nav Database:?

Mine does that occasionally when planning a route. I found that if you press the top of the four buttons on the right (the one with a car icon and 4 arrows pointing inward) it takes you back to your current location, with the correct route planned in. A minor inconvenience but nothing more.

Same has happened to me (car registered 14.07.14), last time when driving through Bicester I was apparently in Wolfsburg, presumably something to do with VW being made there. As you say though, easy enough to reset.

Ah! Having it happen whilst driving would definitely be more annoying..!

Good workaround. As you can see from the mileage that's being plotted, it's not the algorithm that's wrong it's the map data itself.

mine does this too so its not just the leons, i just thought mine wanted to go home, the roads are probably much nicer.

I do sometimes think that if it didnt fight itself to go home it would be a quicker system as its painfully slow occasionally.

But what ya gonna do, all roads lead to germany after all :)
