SD Cards in DAB Radio

Hi All

I'm having trouble with my SD Cards in the Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35 radio in the Ibiza DAB Special Edition. I'm trying to get 2GB cards working with no luck.

I have had a search around and can see that someone suggested the ones fron 7dayshop but I have had no luck with this. Also I have tried Sandisk and also Play's own brand, but still no luck.

I am formatting them to FAT 16 (I think, I am using Windows but more of Linux man) and can't get them to work no matter what.

What cards have people used to get thier 2GB cards working? Also what step do you follow to get it working?

Thanks in advance

Rick

My Garmin Streetpilot will recognise 1GB but not 2GB SD cards. Could be your stereo is the same......depends on how old the design is, i think. Newer electronics will recognise up to 8GB SDHC cards.

It wont work with a 2GB card because FAT 16 only supports up to 1GB only Fat 32 will work with the 2gig ones but the DAB radio only supports FAT 16 wich is kinda crap really to say its supposed to be new.

Doesn't it say in the DAB manual, that you have to use the headunit to format the cards? Thats what I did and mine seems to work fine (although it is only 512Mb).

There are different specs of SD card, the larger cards tend to be SD HC which may or may not be supported by your device.

have a look here :-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card

be worth checking what the unit supports.

I figured that out early on, it's only 4GB and higher that SD cards use HC.

I always thought the highest capcity of FAT 16 was 2GB. Looking on wikipedi this seems correct.

I think i've figured this out, if I format the SD cards on windows for 2GB the cluster size is 64kb. On 1GB these are 32kb, I think. It is possible to format a FAT 16 drive with a 32kb cluster size. If i do this then this should work.

Did anyone get 2GD cards wroking on their DAB radio? If so do you know which versions of windows you used to format?

Thanks

Well no such luck with different formatting. I know somepeople have got two gig cards working with their dab radio. Is there something obvious i'm missing here?

Hi Mill

tried that already but no luck. I'm going to try a 1 gig card tonight. i spoke to blaupbunkt and they said some 2 gig cards work and some don't. which was helpful, he couldn't tell me why some work and some don't. I don't think i'll have any radio by these again!

I didn't format mine in the radio, just went for a smaller size, transfered the files and it works absolutely fine.

Hi Guys,

There is a thread on a sister site about this.

http://briskoda.net/ice-security-insurance/blaupunkt-woodstock-52-memory-card/75236/

My question is has anyone got a 2gb sd card working? If so can you please specify the make and model of the card and the formatting technique used? All I can get is 1gb cards to work.

The Blaupunkt stereo sounds soo good and works so well, it's almost criminal that they did not make a little bit more effort. I could have had a 32gb SD card will all my music on it if they had bothered to make it SDHC compatible :(

OK Guys,

I have tried all sorts of formatting options and bought a 133X speed card. NOTHING WORKS!!

Therefore I advise anyone else looking at this that it is not possible to use a 2gb SD card with the Nashville DAB35.
