Hi all.

Due to me starting a new job in January next year, im going to have to sell my Ibiza Cupra 160. Currently its modifeid, so what im wondering is would it be best/easier to sell modded or standar

Heres a bit about the car:

Late 04 plate Ibiza Cupra TDI160
Platinum Grey Metallic
26,000 miles
Dealer serviced
Mods carried out by Star Performance include:
KW V1 coilovers
Custom switchable re-map - 202BHP/ 299lb/ft
Helix paddle clutch with SMF
Uprated dogbone mount bushes + gearbox mount
Pagid front brake pads
Seat Sport front strut brace
Other work carried by Star Performance:
New rear disks and pads
Brake fluid change
Aircon/Climatecontrol service/recharge

The car is in generally good condition, except for a couple of stone chips on the bonnet and a couple of scratches in the plastic interior in the boot. It has a Pioneer cd/mp3 headunit and no sunroof.
I still have the original headunit and suspension, but dont have the original clutch/flywheel.

My main concern is getting it sold, not how much it goes for aslong as i can pay off the remaining finance, so what do you guys think is my best option?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

i think if you put suspentiuon back on the other things arnt that noticablke really clutch and flywheel they wont tell could swap ecu with a standard one off somone and bit of money for you. or try sell it as it is first if you have no luck try changed bits back to standard

the clutch is kind of notice able now because of SMF, it causes the gearbox/engine to rattle a bit at idle. Im thinking that if someone that wasnt clued up on this type of thing would be thinking wtf is wrong with that when they heard it?

I would definitely put it back to standard.

You probably won’t get anymore for a modified one than you would for a standard one. All you would be doing is limiting the number of potential buyers! You might even get less for it.

Just get back what you can for the mods and sell the car as standard as possible.

This is actually what I am doing at the moment :) with good effect :D

i always preffer to buy a standard car and also you limit the buyers market with it modded but try and sell it as is first you never no it might save you a load of work and maybe some money!

OK cheers for the input folks. What sort of price should i expect to get for the car? I dont suppose its the best time of year to be selling either really.

I part exd mine and got 9K for it - 05 Plate 7k miles. The garage are selling it on ebay at the moment for £10,995. I advertised mine for a few weeks and started it at 11k and even after dropping the price to 9.5k I didnt have a single enquiry about it. I would guess it would be worth maybe 9k private, not sure though.

Hmm, i was thinking of putting it on the market at £10,000 ono. By the sounds of things that might be too much.

Just been out at the car, going to have to get 2 new tyres on it as well.

Well here is some input from my side ;)

Having always modded my cars I would love to buy it(If I was looking) with the work all done ;)

It depends on how quick you need to sell?

Most people think a modded car has been thrashed to death and are put off by this

As long as the work has been done correct and it's running well somone could have a bargain(If they are looking for said car)

Mine is modded and I but I don't even drive it as hard as some standard owners

Good luck with your sale anyway!

Thanks for your input Fez boy. I know what you mean about people thinking modded cars have been thrashed alot, any work done to the car was done by either the dealer where i bought it brand new or a vag specialist so no worries there.

I'd rather sell it sooner rather than later but i can afford to keep it for a while so im not under any pressure to sell.

I would get it on Piston Heads(FREE)

Put it into the 4sale section on here and see how you get on ;)

If no joy and you still need to sell then you may have to go back to standard.

I would say put it back to standard as much as you can.

i.e. change the suspension back to standard and put the original headunit in. I doubt these would add value to the car if you were to leave them on. Then you can get a few extra £££s if you sell the coilovers, strut brace and headunit.

As you haven't got the standard clutch, I would probably leave it as it is and just put this in your advert (although I doubt it would add value to the car).

I think £10k is a reasonable price to put it up for, then you can sell the mods.

Hope this helps
