Shattered passenger window....

Car was parked on our quiet drive overnight and in the morning I noticed the passenger window had shattered into the million little fragments. However it was completely intact with no sign of force being applied to the window (or the rest of the car). On lightly touching the glass bits easily fell into the car so I'm happy (apart from the cost!) that it has shattered due to internal stress or similar - though why? Weather benign - not cold or hot or windy, car on flat level surface and I haven't been on the WalesGB rally or similar so car not stressed especially either. Probably never know but will ask the repair guy in the morning.....

All mended by Autoglass - no obvious faults and according to Mr Autoglass not common unless weather extreme or car subject to odd stresses - neither being an obvious cause on this occasion. One of life's great mysteries.......but life will continue!!

Weird. Cheers for the update. Wonder if there was a manufacturing weakness in that piece of glass (if that's even possible).

Just some interesting facts about rescue tools to destroy car windows in case of emergency:
In both videos you will see punctual fracture of the glass, while the windowpane remains in the doorframe ... just as you described.
