shift knob with light up LEDS? can it be done?

Just a crazy idea I had the other day. Can you mod a gear knob so that the numbers and the shift pattern light up in red just like the dash?
How would one even go about this project?

not the standard gear knob, but you can buy aftermarket ones that do that.

I would like something along those lines for my car! I think a very oem style knob that had red lighting in as well would look quite classy! But the ones posted by Mork are (dare i say the word) chaved up Escort or Nova!

yes could post, i find it hard to see the numbers at night too, can be a right bugger as you have to use a torch to light up the gearknob up then decide where you need to move the gearknob for which gear. So i can see the benefits of it being lit..........lol

Oh wait i thought he was talking about a shift light, not a neon glow gear knob.

If you have to look at the gear knob each time you change gear, go re-take your driving test mate!

Focus St's do the same, and so do the top of the range 1.8 SRi's Corsa's
