Smoke and heat

Had this problem a few weeks ago but thought I had fixed it.
Driving along and when you take your foot off gas you feel the car slow down as if the handbrake is on. Definately not on and only noticed when I stopped that smoke was coming off of front right wheel and on inspection is red hot.

I took wheel off and inspected brakes. Pads and disc replaced last year so plenty of meat on them and disc looks ok although rather shiny.

I took off caliper, checked it all and put it back on and all was fine.

Just been out in car for 10 mins and the problem has come back. Quite a serious one this as something could go on fire with the heat of the wheel. Just got hose pipe on it to cool down and the steam was imense.

Any ideas where to look before taking to garage?

thanks

Rob

Did you take the disc off and check if warped (or leave on and measure runout using a guage). Take guide pins out and clean up, then apply a liberal layer of copper grease or 'black' greasee to lube, ensure end caps are in place too, to prevent dirt etc getting in. As Cripdust also says, overhaul of caliper, seals etc....
