Hiya guys,

Recently got myself a wee Ibiza Cupra 1.4Tsi as a daily, :D

I also have a Subaru Sti, [B)]

What should i look out for i have read the fundamental problems thread and as my car is an early one i am worried it will blow anytime i floor it ? :(

Looking to keep it pretty standard apart from the current mods which i think is just a set of H&R lowering springs, but always curious as to what i can do possibly upgrade the brakes i read the 225bhp Leon Cupra R brembos are a good choice, are there any breakers on here ??

What about the rear brakes ?

Which sites are best for parts such as servicing filters, OEM waterpumps, timing chains ?

How do these cars handle a stage 1 map, would be an APR ?

The DSG box is great, is there any upgrades for that, or service parts ?

Thanks

Can I first ask what year your cupra is? If it the first version (pre facelift) then you will have the cave engine most likely which unfortunately suffered bad engine oil consumption and misfiring which can be helped by updated cool packs and spark plugs. Other wise the new cthe engine code was revised and didn't suffer these problems. I would recommend joining teamboc on Facebook you will get a lot of info advice there about these engines, also a guy called Robbie drake is on that page who is the go to guy for all things brakes so best speaking to him for that!
The stage one map will be fine for the car but anything more than that you will need to uprate your intercooler, intake, and exhaust at the least! Again if it's the older engine you will definitely need coil packs and spark plugs to run a map to the best of its ability. The dsg box can be remapped for optimisation and again is recommended for anything above a stage 1 remap to handle the additional power!

The CTHE engine was introduced in late 2012 on the Fabia (according to Evo who did a fairly comprehensive article this month on the VRS Fabia) I expect the engine was introduced on all the VAG models at a similar date. The Fabias have a sticker at the bottom of the driver's door identifying the engine. The Ibiza may have something similar.

Thanks mate,

Car is a 60 plate so i suspect it's the early type.

Any particular coil packs i should be getting ?

Along with plugs ?

I read the waterpump is different in later models is that a direct fit too ??

Would you think with the coils packs and plugs upgraded id be safe on a stage 1 map with this early engine ?

I would like it to be satge 1 with dsg map but still as reliable as possible,

Turboboy for brakes.

Facebook- Team Boc.

Cheers bud,

I see you run the old BAM Cupra R brake setup,

What was involved with that front and rear ??

I would like to go down this route,,

Will i need spacers for my stock 17" wheels ?

How does rear h/Brake setup operate on those bigger back brakes ???
