Software update failed - control module broken

Hi
On Sunday the car asked me to update the software. Said it would be thirty mins.
Went back to the car an hour later, nothing on screen so turned it on.
All hell broke loose. No screen. Lights on dash like a disco. VW assistance called. He said it’s stuck in boot up mode and needed a dealership to load software back on.
it’s been in 8 hours and they have told me the control module has gone!

I asked for more detail but the technician had gone home by this point!
What’s the chances of this getting fixed quickly?

Well Looks like i am in the same boat as you then. car asked me to run the update when i turned off engine, wait 30 mins so exited the car... left it a couple of hours, came back and all i now have is the Infotainment stuck in a reboot loop, and everythime it reboots loads of popups on the dash for things that are not working.

@Teacherjen did you get you problem resolved ? mine is not booked in until June so have a few weeks of nothing working. Most annoying bit is Aircon is stuck on and i can adjust it at all... Luckily not on full blast though.

Hi
Yes all sorted. The garage tried to upload the software and it failed. They then informed me the control module had failed and they had to order a new one. 24 hours later all fixed and new software installed. Fingers crossed you get sorted soon!

Good luck lads... Mine was stuck on the update and constant loop of searching the updates. Car needed new screen and some control units. I didn't have the car for nearly a month but that's considering I was a pain in the ass to the dealership as they insisted the car was on the "latest" software version... but that was for the VIN, not over the air. Finally last week with new update for the chassis, they somehow managed to get someone who thinks and he reloaded everything and pushed all the updates... nightmare

Same with our car … stuck and Christmas lights all over. Car dealer tried everything without success. Have to go back Tuesday. Hope they come with a solution.
