someone tried to break into my car

It was noticed last night by a mate who was standing by my drivers door that at some point it appears my car was either broken into or had an attempted break in....the damage repair isnt up to much!!!!
And it shows how well i checked the car over when i bought it!!!! cos now its been pointed out i cant really miss it

But I have also been recommended to blank off the front door locks, does anyone have the part numbers?

I was thinking of de-locking, but just as I was about to buy the bits required my remote locking packed up and it's still not working!

I'm glad I didn't do it now! although I'm certain loads of other poeple have delocked without any problems...

There's a list here of the part numbers required. I've ordered the kit and the part number on www.leoncupra.co.uk for the cover was wrong, the part numbers in the link I posted are correct.

Just need to get the stuff for the fuse 38 relocation and then change the lock

Thanks for that, just have to get my handyman to do it for me once I got the parts.....

maybe that was all that happened, I hadnt even noticed it ....but he even pointed out there was damage on the door, frame, and the bits on the pillar......

Erm, what's fuse 38?

I have recently had an attempted break in on my mk1 2005 leon.......damn car thiefs!!! I'm thinking of getting a delocking kit and seeing about getting a second fob key too. I'm a bit concerned because I'm not sure how I would get into the car if the fob packed up though. Can you get in via the boot with a key, and if so how? because I've had no luck.

If I was to get the door lock replaced would I need to have a seperate key for that lock?

Any info or advise anyone has would be much appreciated as I am soon to get a quote for door repair and respray. Just looking for the best and smartest looking option really.

Any old remote key fob will do the trick if you are not bothered about trying to use it physically (since the key blades will not match your locks). It will need coding to the car's ECU (via a friendly SCN member with VAG-COM). This is not true of cars on the Golf MK5 platform though as the ECU's are coded to only accept key fobs with the correct badge (eg Audi for Audi, Seat for Seat etc).

If you get the door lock from the dealership they can get one to match the existing. The remote locking is coded to the car's ECU not the actual lock itself on the door - although the metal "key" blade is obviously unique to your car locks and if you don't buy a matched one then you'll need a seperate key for that lock.

Fuse 38 is the fuse that protects the remote central locking and if it blows you won't be able to get at it to replace it if you can't open the car on the key (as you've delocked it) because of the deadlocks. You relocate it to somewhere else behind the dash that you can get to with the doors closed.
