Is there a way of setting a buzzer or whatever through the dashboard to warn you when you reach a certain speed? I just wondered as I am finding that when I lose my rag with tailgaters and accelerate away its easy to get carried away. I'd like something to go 'SLOW DOWN!' and bring me back to earth at a set speed.

There is a 'bong' that you can set to go off at a certain speed.

Unfortunately, I don't have my manual to hand, so I can't advise on how to do it (I know it involves the reset button... ) right now, but I'll get back to you later unless someone beats me to it!

My tom tom usually has a siren that i use mainly when on motorways but there's lots of place i go that i know off by heart now so i dont need the tom tom. Apart from that i didn't know you can set a chime on it.

Yeah, when you go through the menu on the avg feul etc button on the washer stalk you will find it there. I set mine then de-activated it again as it annoyed me no end hahahahaha

yeah, scroll through the readouts until you see one that looks like --- and has no number 1 or 2.
press and hold the button underneath for a few seconds until the --- start to flash
set the desired speed using the rocker
press the button underneath again to confirm.

I set mine for 100 on the tomtom just incase. Problem is its a little slow to react. I'll have to try this trick. Its too easy to reach this naughty speed without realising.

My bog standard sat nav has that 100 limit as well, of course I've never seen it in action... (cough cough )

On my MY11 1.2 TSI you don't need to press the button underneath to confirm; you just wait about 3 seconds and it sets automatically.

In fact if you aren't quick enough with the rocker switch it can activate before you manage to get the setting changed.

Sequence is now:-
1. Choose speed warning with rocker.
2. Press button, digits start to flash.
3. If speed setting is OK wait 'till flashing stops and you are done, else:-
4. Quickly change speed setting with rocker.
5. When digits stop flashing you are done.

To cancel, press the button.

Mine came with 70mph already set... as if they fear I'd ever take it over that speed??
