Sport v Stylance

Hi, I am just about to purchase a 2005 Sport TDI 140, but I have also seen a 2006 Stylance TDI 100 for the same price, apart from the engine size, what are the main differences between the two models?
Thanks

Thanks, I think I will go for the sport to be honest, I like the look of the sport.

Depends what you want the car to do for you.
Personally I would drive them both on a potholed road with speed humps on first before parting with your cash!

See if the lower powered engine suits - it may do but it's not going to have the mid range punch of the 140. Also, are you loading the car up with family/luggage?

I have a Stylance, the reason I went for it is the suspension is softer - that said you can still feel every bump in a broken road surface. I find it just this side of bearable, but then I do 50k a year and I take a lot of punishment to my back for four years if I choose wrongly.
Mines the 1.9TDI with 104 bhp and to be fair it feels much quicker than the figures suggest, and being fully loaded doesn't seem to affect it at all. I also get late 50s MPG, £120 tax and group 5 insurance.

As well as the Sport having firmer suspension, IIRC the alloys are bigger which compounds the ride firmness. Mine are 16", I think the Sport are 17"?

If you are doing ave miles all this may not be an issue, but for higher miles and passengers it could be too firm a ride for some tastes.

Also with the firm ride more noise gets transmitted into the cabin on a poor road surface, again, could be an issue if you use handsfree phone.

The main difference here would be engine wise! TAke 2.0tdi, as 1.9tdi is underpowered for a 1.500 ton car as far as i am conserned. It makes more noise as well, However, it will consume approximately 1-1.5 litre/100km of fuel less then 2.0tdi I drive both engines so this is first hand. Despite the consumption, i would always choose 2.0tdi, since 1.9tdi is rather sluggish and loud for my taste....it also has 5 gears, whereas 2.0tdi has 6!

I bought an (05) 2.0 TDI SPORT with DSG.
my other choice was a 1.9 tdi reference sport
Glad i got the SPORT excellent car, had it a year now no plans to chop it in for owt else
I might look at a Leon/Altea TDI FR next
But I'm in no rush to change. The fuel consumption varies between 45-50 PG on mine
