Strange!!!This problem has only jus started givin me hassle!!! When I go to start the car, occasionally it will not respond on the first turn of the key, then i try again and again eventually it will start up fine! In doing this though it resets the clock on the dash!!(duno if that means anything)

But now its startin to behave in a very strange way!! Once I get the car started, because now starting it is a problem most of the time it will idle fine but then when i put my foot on the accelerator the revs will go up and down. ie i put my foot far enough down to hold it at 2,000rpm but it wil blip down to about 1,500 and then back up to 2,000 very quickly and constantly!!!

So when drivin the car it will jolt and kangaroo in a whiplash inducing way, unless i floor it!! When i do floor it i get all the jolting until it hits about 2,500rpm at which point the jolting disappears but only if I'm flooring it!!

Really don't have much of an idea of exactly what it could be, am I lookin at battery??? spark plugs??? fuel injectors??? Any help much appreciated!!!!!!!

When you say "occasionally it will not respond on the first turn of the key", do you mean the engine will not fire, or the engine will not turn over or what?

Clock resetting sounds like the starter motor is pulling the power supply all the way down. Battery is probably fine unless this happens all the time. And anyway, if it'll start fine on a second attempt, then there's probably nothing too badly wrong with the battery. I'd suggest it's indicative of another problem...

On the first turn of the key I get absolutley nothing, like what you would get if the battery was completely flat but then usually after 5 or 6 trys it will turn over and start fine!!
However, if the car is left ova nite it will start first time no problems it only seems to occur if the car has been running!!

Just took a proper look under the bonnet coz couldnt see anything last night and its a bit clearer what could have happened!!!
It does look like the ignition coil has been shorting for whatever reason, a few of the wires coming from it have burnt away in what looks like quite a bad way!!!
As far as I can see they have burnt away all the way up the loom and back into the car!!! Any ideas why this would happen?? What do I need to replace???

Definate ignition coil!!Its burnt out a beauty!! All three wires comin from it have aswel goin through the whole loom and ending up where they need to be!!! Brown, red and white, black are the 3wires!!!Am i guna get away wiv a few new wires and a new ignition coil on this1????

Its a good start.

The coils always overheat. I`ve seen one melted nearly in half.

Good Luck

HEY!!!! Changed the ignition module today (£61) and replaced the burnt out wires!!! So far so good!!! The car starts 1st time easily and the revs are back as normal!!! It has also solved the 5,000rpm rev limit that seemed to be in place!!! Case solved!!!!! :)
