Steering no no longer stiff in sports mode?

Hi All
Complete newbie. Have a Leon SC FR 2.0 tsi since October 20. Still enjoying it.
Didn't drive for around 10 days as in Covid isolation, and since taking her for a spin since all that cold weather, the steering doesn't stiffen in sports mode. Coincidentally, the stop start (which I don't actually mind, as not too much traffic driving) is also not working. Any ideas? Could this be the sensors due to cold weather. Now I'll be honest, I'm not too technical, but will take in to my local garage tomorrow, who really like the VAG group to see what they think.

Does you model have options to change steering settings in the menu? Wondered whether might have reverted to factory settings.
Could be linked to a low battery?

Of course, it could be the steering is lighter if you're driving on ice!

I've tried choosing sport steering on the individual mode, but no change there, still light. I'll see what garage say tomorrow. Re battery, there were no problems starting after the cold 10 day rest. Unless it's just one of the cells?

Thanks for replies.

Have you checked the SOC via the dash?

Excuse my ignorance! Is that easy to do? I've checked vehicle info via infotainment system, which just recommends a service in 22 days. It does say something about cabin temperature for stop start, which is not making sense to me, but nothing about steering.

Good question!

Watch this:

Basically - sit in the car. You don't need key in ignition or anything. Make sure doors are shut.

Press and hold the ODO button. It will scroll through to SOC - release button and it should give you the battery SOC %.

That just means the temperature inside the car is not cold enough / hot enough to allow the car to shut off. There are lots of reasons for start stop not to engage.

i have set my battery level threshold that high that my stop start never kicks in:cool:

junk eco friendly system.

Regarding the SOC display.

If yours shows three dashes - - -

it means that the function is not fitted/activated, not that you have zero charge.

My ODO doesn't give me the battery soc, just time and service it would seem.

Have noticed a grainy steering noise when parking, so could be linked to that. Whether that would be a warranty issue or a service I'll have to find out. Only a 19 plate so still covered.

Had my 2.0tsi for over a year now and have never been able to notice any difference between 'normal' and 'sport' steering settings.

I just assumed that the difference was so subtle that I just couldn't notice it in everyday driving.

In my previous 1.8tsi the difference was quit marked. I thought of mentioning it at service time but couldn't think of anything that might cause it so just assumed it was my lack of sensitivity.

No problem with start/stop though - that I've noticed.

Just getting mine serviced today. Although the steering appears to tighten to an extent at speed, difference between the steering was really noticeable between normal and sport whatever the speed, so hoping they can sort that. My stop start seems to have sorted itself out now.
