unless the dealer is going to pay the additional 2.5%??? expect to pay more if it is in the new year. I would call them and ask. I cant see many cars being delivered over xmas, from experience (used to work for VW ) it tends to be a slow time.

I have called and asked them- 8 times now. The sales guy (Drag) specifically says to me 'dont worry even if the car arrives after the new year you'll only pay the same vat free price we originally agreed on'. What else can i do? i'm worried about the situation so i call them weekly and ask about it but he gives me the same answer every time.

Email or Fax them requesting confirmation of telephone conversation.

be nice that way you have it in writing, and before you ask as long as you keep the original email and reply it's pretty solid legally as is fax. and they basically wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

I ordered mine mid november and pick it up tommorrow (1.6TDi Sport)

yeah will do! I still havnt seen it in the light yet- i picked it up after work (in the dark), drove it to work this morning (in the dark), drove it home from work this evening (yes again in the dark). I cant wait till tomorrow when i can actually see it! 47 mpg on the way to work, not bad.

Hey, sorry no pics yet- its been raining and i've been crazy busy. The colour is candy white of course!!! 51 mpg to work this morning, the dealer rang at lunchtime to ask how it was going and also told me the fuel economy would only get better as the engine beds in, good times! I've noticed a hot or burning kind of smell when i stop after getting to work-(12 mile run on a and b roads), it smells like there has been some oil spilled on the engine or something. i've heard quite a few people say their's smells hot too.

oh and just one other thing- i was going round the m5 j7 roundabout this morning and went past a yellow 10 plate fr on the verge spewing steam!!! didnt look good!!

Mine smelt pretty bad after long journeys for the first few weeks. My dealer said that it was a wax that they put on the engine to protect it when it is being shipped (?)

Not sure whether that is correct or not, but the smell seems to have gone now.

Burning smell has gone, seems to be bedding in nicely now!! I love it already.
