Hi
As some might know I recently got a Sub 8 and soon noticed some judder under hard braking , after reading up I seen that these disks are prone to premature warping and saw that they are not handed so one side stays less cool due to the veins between the discs facing the other way , Seat were not interested lol and quoted £826 for new discs and pads , anyway I got hold of a company who reskim disks and had them done for £90 and are perfect but after inquiring with TPS I see that they got superceded and just wondered if they had changed the design so they both got the same amount of cooling ? As the only one that was warped was the one facing the wrong way and its almost a manufacturing fault , let me know if anyone has any ideas.

The Carbon I have, arguably the latest car to have the Brembos fitted. Clearly has the same disc both sides from the direction of the drilled holes.

Surprised skimming fixed the discs though.

From my understanding having spoken to a reputable tuner. He says he he has not seen a warped discs in the last 10+ years. From what I can remember he basically said...

Yes the discs on the brembos are incorrectly handed, but the issue is not the discs warping but the build up of material on the discs due to the DSG gearbox. This happens when people sit at lights with their foot on the brake pedal to stop the car moving.

Solution is if you’ve had a heavy stop is to stick the handbrake on and knock it into neutral. Even better knock it into neutral just before you come to a halt so you can lift off the pedal and then apply the handbrake.

Hardly ideal I know.

I am no expert but I would also say that a lot of people have complained about warped disks

Have a read of this article http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths

The bit I had not recalled was:

PREVENTION
There is only one way to prevent this sort of thing - following proper break in procedures for both pad and disc and use the correct pad for your driving style and conditions. All high performance after market discs and pads should come with both installation and break in instructions.

And in the many threads on this site about the problem with the Sub 8 Brembo's a lot of people found the problems they were having were solved by changing Pads. I also think the Audi Duct will also help in this matter.

I did also read that as well and makes sense so maybe it's just the auto TTS that suffers as well , weird how it was mainly one side but they are perfect now which I'm pleased about

Very interesting thread. Never realised there was an issue with the Brembos!

What pads are recommended to help this issue?

It is a trade off but for me I love the look of the Brembo Brakes and disks plus the stopping power is fantastic, pretty sure my discs and pads are from new (not 100%) and now have 20k on and if i can get 5-10k more for £100 then its not to bad but lets see.
