with the floppy rubber hanging bits

does anyone know how these work

as in...if you're at any speed do they always suck air out the back? i assume they are to equalize pressure or something

Not 100% sure exactly which vents you're on about, but generally these things are to allow you to close the doors (by equalising pressure as you rightly assumed)

If the car is tightly sealed you seriously struggle to close the doors, unless you do it very slowly.

actually they might normally be hidden by trim

if you are standing looking at the tailgate with the boot open, and you pull the trim around the boot catch off,

there are two vents just below the catch

this might be a good place to put fans to chuck out amplifier heat

as said it's most probably to stop the windscreen popping out when you slam a door or the tailgate :)

these sort of vents normally have flaps on them to stop rain and splash from puddles geting in

as above people have said but il clear it up they are simply to release pressure in the car when closing the doors as if it was a tight seal the windows WILL SMASH and the doors wont close nicely! rubber flaps are just to stop drafts entering the car and water ect
