I bought one from euro cat parts for £6'ish It's lasted 4 weeks and has stuck open again so looks like I'll be flushing the coolant system and fitting a new one again

my new stat lasted just 1 day !! its worth checking a new stat before dropping in to save time and money - lesson learnt

How you check it works without fitting it to the car?

fitted my new stat today which is rated at 92c ive tried all day to get the engine temp up abouve this to get the fans to kick in but no joy i think its just to cold. the engine gets warm enough to open the stat (just) but no where near the fan temp......i trust this is just efficient cooling and not a problem?

i did flush out the engine and added red coolant

Should be fine, i'd carry the coolant, ready mixed, to add if need be.
It's really cold out now, so maybe will only get up to temp after a drive.
