Ok, need some advice
Ever so lately whilst driving on the motorways etc, i am starting to hear a horrible whinning sound (and for once it isnt me lol),. Where i drive for work it is a 50mph speed limit, and most times for economy sake i will throw the car into 6th and just cruise. Well this never seemed to be a problem until lately. Sitting at 50 and in 6th (sometimes 5th too) can hear a horrible faint whining sound which i assume is transmission noise. Always goes, when i put my foot on the acelerator.
My friend has a LCR too and he reakoned his car had a problem with his gearbox (and i never heard a thing, it was quiet). He was so worried he ot it looked over and it was confirmed he needed a new gearbox. My reaction was WTF? Has he radar hearing or something? I am slightly worried my car may have a problem in the coming months.
I must point out i hardly ever rag it to death. The car has just turned 40k miles, it has had a belt tensioner replaced and recent cambelt and waterpump service too.
Any advice here?
