ive have a k03s waiting to go on my car and ive been looking at these JBS04 turbos and k03/k04 hybrids.

can anyone tell me what exactly what modifications are carried out on the k03s to achieve more power?

is it the case of just gettin the internals from a k04 fitted into a k03s!?

i work on cnc lathe and milling machines and i have had to modify a cosworth turbo today and was wondering what i could do with my k03s to gain more power before i fit it?!

any help appreciated

thanx

Mill out the housing to fit a slightly larger compressor wheel, get a k04-023 compressor wheel then clip it and balance it. Mill out the inlet so more air can flow in but not go too thin as I have seen these flatten and distort when the tip is tightened. Also change the bearings etc. I would also fit an uprated actuator. These are just the basics.

can you balance is all when reassembled?

well no, theres no balancing tackle at work, why would i need to balance them if i just remove them from the k04 and reassemble them into the k03s?

i assume the blades have to be situed in the exact same place they were removed which would be extremely difficult to achieve to the accuracy needed?

where would i be able to get the shaft balanced once assembled in the k03s?

thanx

I know you have done the cosworth turbo, but for my peace of mind, I would send it off to turbo dynamics etc, as companies like this are very well versed in setting up and modifying turbos into hybrids

but that would just be me :)

The k04 turbine will not fit into the k03s housing. Its too big. It needs clipping down hence it will then need balancing.

ill have no problem cutting down the blades at work! sounds like you know quite a bit about this conversion mate, where did you get your info from???

i know what ya mean but i wana to be able to say that ive done most of it and prove to myself that i can do it and make it work, it feels good to be able to think that most of the work is done by yourself, like i can with my redtop on throttle bodies, i made the inlet manifold and a fair few bits and bobs to get it going! :D

i only paid £120 for the k03s so if it did go wrong it wouldnt be a mega loss.
