Anyone got any experience of uprated bars on the 184 FR 5 door / estate please? Independent rear suspension. Fitted B6 dampers which are nice but feels like more roll stiffness particularly at the rear would be a good thing (fitted a whiteline rear bar to my mk1 Cupra TDi and it was a really nice mod).
Thanks.

Haven’t seen too many threads on this here, but was quite a common mod on the Octavia - loads of Briskoda Octavia 3 threads, Whiteline being the preferred option from memory.

I've always thought it odd that people rush to change their springs, then dampers but the anti-roll bars often get forgotten about. If I wanted a car to handle better, I think I'd change the anti-roll bars first.

Because most people aren’t actually interested in ‘handling’ they are interested in what the car looks like. Hence cars lowered to the extent that they have too little wheel travel left to handle properly on anything other than billiard tables. I drive on all sorts of roads so have standard springs but still want good handling. I class ‘handling’ as transient response and then what happens after road holding starts to run out.

I’ve been considering fitting one. Have this one picked out...Link
However, I’ve got a box of B8’s and a brake kit waiting to be fitted so I might have to wait until after Christmas before shelling out. :)
If you decide to upgrade please do post a review.

I've fitted a golf GTi performance pack rear bar for now (21.7 diameter and 3.6mm wall thickness) it's 70% stiffer than the standard bar (19mm solid) according to my calculations and only £22 from ebay with links and bushes. Not a huge change but there is a more line tightening on lift-off and it feels a bit more responsive. Will probably get a Whiteline 24mm at some stage.
May not change the front bar, although there are 25mm Golf bars around cheaply, as I gather you have top drop the front subframe to change it....
