Hi All, hopeing I can get some tech advice with the issue I'm currently having. I'd been having a few issues with an old USB stick I had with all my music on so bought a Seagate 2TB EHD which I formated to FAT32. Unfortunately my Ateca still isn't recognising the device. Anyone got any advice/pointers for a ludite like me

I haven't tried an external drive but thought about it. There are limits to the file / directory you can have. That's covered in the manual. If you hit it you don't see anything over it.

– Playlists in the formats M3U, PLS, ASX and WPL.
– Playlists must not exceed 20 kB or more than 1000 entries.
– Filenames and paths that do not exceed 256 characters.
– For DVD, a maximum of 1000 files per storage device and directory.
– For memory cards, a maximum of 4000 files and a maximum of 1000 files per directory.
– For Jukebox (SSD) a maximum of 3000 files.

You might have hit these limits. Music held in Flac is more chunky but if you have an mp3 library you might hit issues in the number of files held. Although in this instance you see the files up to the limit but not beyond.

I use Kingston class 10 128gb SD cards. Having the Plus, one in either slot. The standard unit works happily with this size of card - the partners car.

The unit run QNX so the limits are arbitrary set on the basis you won't exceed them based on a few years back. The way the USB works can be altered by VCDS to supply power on or off etc. You would expect it was correctly set up.

Checking Obdeleven options on that:
  • Off
  • Charge
  • Full
  • Usb_ipod
mines on the last... never changed it. Full sounds interesting. Dabbled with that once in relation to get a usb hub working.

You could try just one file in one folder just to check it reads the device. Also there is the thing about the USB connection providing enough power. WD Passport drives run happily on USB these can be used on routers as media servers, so I don't know whether your unit does. I haven't tried it on the infotainment system thou. That was the thought once on the basis I'd get a Tarraco that didn't have the Plus unit

As a side note I have tried a USB hub, no success with that least on the Plus part of the experiment above. Suspect you are caught on either the unit not powering it up or the drive limit assumptions built into the QNX program.

It is most likely down to a power restriction on the USB port, some of these bigger drives require a bit more than a pen drive. I tried an external 1tb SSD and that had no issues.
